More success! I joined the Bristol Racing pedal car team for the 24 hour event at Shenington (near Banbury) Kart circuit. Check out the official website for the full story here and hundreds of photos here.

I happen to have one photo handy and just so happens to be one of me crossing the finishing line bringing the team home in first place and setting a new 24 hour record as well. It was great fun, though didn't quite fee like that at 0330 or slightly later as I had a horrible cramp in both my calves at the same time. The team spirit within the team was amazing and the banter and friendliness between rival teams was superb. I will definitely do it again if invited by the team.

....and just to give you some idea of what the hell this looks like here is a quick movie. Its a .3gp file (sorry, it from a mobile phone), best viewed with Quicktime.

I was racing in the MOD Mountain Bike Champs yesterday. There are three events: A time trial over 1 lap, a three man team time trial (1 lap each) and the 'endurance' event which is 5 laps. A lap was 3.7 miles. I had teamed up pwith my usual MOD team mates Michael Mogford and Pete Gilbert.

The individual time trial is first and I thought I put in a pretty good lap tho I had to slow at one point as a less experienced rider went down in front of me. Mike kicked us off with the team time trial and coming into the change over with Pete we were second. Pete also put in a stonking lap but we just dropped to third. My turn. I knew the guy in front had a 30 second lead, head down. I caught him about a third into the lap but almost threw it away on a set of double camel bumps. Unoffially we were second.Offically we were first cos the winning team had non-MOD racers in it.

I led the first lap of the 5 lap enduro but got passed by 3 riders on the second lap. I settled into a rythm and paced myself just in case any of them dropped back. They didn't. unofficially I finished 4th. Ofiicially I finished 2nd because again 2 riders ahead of me were non-MOD. It was the same story with individual time trial. When the results came in I was 2nd by 1 second! But, top guy was non-MOD so I got bumped to 1st!

I was fitting a new bottom bracket and brake callipers to the Bianchi today and I was joined by some of the local wildlife. I think he was attracted to the yellow tyres!
